Biannual Conference
The IAPFC holds conferences in the spring and fall of each year. The conference free for members and is typically a two-day event that includes one day of professional development that is open to all and the second day is the business meeting for IAPFC membership only. The professional development day is open to anyone who registers for the cost of $20.00 for non-member.
The next conference is scheduled for April 1, 2025 at Terrace Hills Golf Course, Altoona, Iowa. Registration opens February 15.

Jason Caughey is the Fire Chief of the Laramie County Fire Authority (LCFA) in Cheyenne Wyoming.
Chief Caughey has been in the fire service for over 30 years. He’s served in many capacities including State Trainer,
Firefighter, Fire Captain, and Fire Chief. He has been a Fire Chief for over 23 years with most of that time in volunteer
and combination fire departments.
Chief Caughey is committed to serving both the community and members of LCFA through progressive leadership that
focuses on Service, Ownership, Unity, and being Progressive.
The LCFA is a combination fire department with 100 members. This includes 11 full-time staff, 16 resident firefighters,
and 100 volunteer members. The authority protects 25,000 citizens in Laramie County through eight strategically placed
stations. The LCFA covers 1150 square miles ranging from suburban development to rural ranch land.
Chief Caughey has an associate degree and bachelor’s degree from Columbia Southern University in Fire Science. He
also achieved his Executive Fire Officer from the National Fire Academy along with the CFO designation from the
Center for Public Safety Excellence.
Chief Caughey serves on many boards and is the senior fire advisor for FireRescue1 media.
